We stayed the first night at my mom's place just north of Taos and then headed to Sante Fe on Saturday morning. In case you didn't know, Sante Fe is home to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, the 2nd largest art market in the country, the San Miguel Mission (the oldest church structure in the USA), and the De Vargas Street House (possibly the oldest house in America), amongst other historically and artistically significant things.
But we went to Trader Joe's. Oh, and El Parasol for tacos (they were delish).
After picking up some of our favorite TJ goods (not to mention 5 cases of wine for us and our friends who had placed "orders") and stopping twice along a busy highway to try and rescue a stray dog (who I'm sure would have become Lincoln's best friend), we headed back to Taos to check-in at El Monte Sagrado. (We may or may not have made a brief stop at the Buffalo Thunder casino in hopes of becoming rich. We didn't.)
After checking into the absolutely gorgeous hotel (I'd highly recommend it over practically anything else in Taos), we walked to the Plaza in search of dinner. We decided on Antonio's just outside the plaza and enjoyed a nice New Mexican meal. We headed back to the hotel to have a drink in the bar and catch the live band for a bit. It was a great time at a beautiful resort. (Thanks Mom and Jason for the stay!!)

Goodbye El Monte!
Sunday we headed back to my mom's place for a delicious meal made by Jason. They are always such wonderful hosts and I'm so thankful for how generous they are despite not having the means of most. My mom's heart is gigantic, and I'm glad that now as an adult, I can finally appreciate that :) We're excited to have them here in a few days for Christmas and my birthday!
