Happy 4th Birthday Benjamin!

Dear Benjamin,

Last week, you turned FOUR years old.

You are a happy, care-free, life-loving, energetic, kind, funny, silly, and seriously goofy little guy.

You're also an incredibly kind and loving older brother.

You love all things Spiderman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, Lego, Star Wars, Nerf Shooter, Broncos, Everton, macaroni & cheese and candy.

You have an amazing imagination and can finally play on your own in your own little worlds, it's pretty fun to watch.

And the HAIR. (The other day while I was trimming it, you asked me - wistfully - if I could please not cut off any of your curls. Trust me, bud, that's never happening!)

You love your family.

You have SO much energy and do everything in a BIG way. Whether it's playing, laughing, or talking, it's all done at BIG and LOUD levels. Your laugh is contagious.

You love going to school because being around buddies makes your heart so happy. You just beam with joy when you're around your friends. You don't love to write or color, but you love to learn about things like planets, places, and science, and your brain soaks everything up like a sponge. Your memory is almost scary! You started spelling and "reading" a few months ago and love to figure out words on signs or in books. It's so much fun watching you learn and grow in so many ways. You love to sing, usually songs from "Newsies" like "King of New York" or "Seize that Day", Lion King like "Circle of Life" or "Just Can't Wait To Be King", and the Beatles catalog like "Hey Jude" and "Yellow Submarine". Though you also love to sing Taylor Swift songs too, and I've even found you singing "Hello" by Adele while playing legos. You've listened and attempted to dance to "Watch Me Whip" a thousand times this year. You love swim lessons, soccer classes, and your new go at basketball with some classmates. You LOVE the water though, and could jump in and swim all day! (Well, you're not quite swimming on your own yet, but SO close) Most importantly, you're a kind boy who seems to care about the feelings of others, and this is all I could ever ask of you. I'm so thankful for your heart and smile!

We started your birthday off with some chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast!
(while playing with your Christmas gifts, of course)...

You opened some presents!

And we ended the day with our now tradition of dinner and games at Casa Bonita!! (I wonder how many years we'll be able to keep this up before the terrible food kills us) ;)

You were so happy to go back to Casa Bonita and were thrilled when they seated us next to the water/divers again! You could hardly contain your joy for everything going on: cliff divers, caves to explore, games to play, a birthday milkshake, everything! It was fun to hear you laugh so much :)

 More sopapillas please!

We played LOTS of skeeball...

A few days later, we had (what I thought would be) a small birthday party at our house with your classmates and neighbor buddies. It was a "superhero" party with a Stars Wars cake (cuz that's all I could find last minute at Walmart... oops!). You were so happy to have so many friends come over, and while it was complete chaos, it was so great to see you have such an amazing celebration of turning FOUR!

Your favorite teacher came too!

We love you little man, you are such a special little guy. Can't wait to see what the next year brings!

Love,
Mom & Dad
