Easter Weekend

Easter weekend seemed to come and go in a flash.  Thankfully, the weather was gorgeous, and we were able to spend a wonderful weekend together as a family rejoicing in the good news of Jesus and all that He's done for us.  We are blessed in so many ways, and I will never forget that.

On Friday, some of my BoCo (Boulder County - this is my new nickname for the group, they don't know that yet) friends came over so we could have the kiddos do an egg hunt while we tried to catch up over lunch and in between chasing children.

You can tell Benjamin was excited to have his buddies over!

I hid a bunch of eggs in our backyard (one was stolen by a squirrel) and we tried to talk with the kiddos about how to take part in an egg hunt.  In reality, I think Mimi was just about the only one who really understood anything, and thankfully she's a super sweet girl who didn't mind handing out eggs she found to those less fortunate (i.e. Bode and Benjamin).  We didn't have to break up any fights, we didn't have anyone stealing candy/toys, and a few of the kids got distracted by toys in the yard and never even finished the hunt.  So overall, I'd say it was a success :)

Look at how big Fisher is getting!!  Crawling already!!

Big kids taking run of the house, as they should :)

Talking about the easter egg hunt...

Mackenzie read the group a book about it... (putting those excellent teacher skills to use!) :)

I tried to get them to "line up" for the hunt, but Henry was off and running...

What's in these, mom?  Cooool....

Oh wait, this bat is cooler...

The second egg she gave to Benjamin - she's so sweet!

And then I busted out the bubble wands I found at Walmart for $1.  Wow, these things are unending entertainment for children (until they run out of soapy liquid)... the kids were in outdoor heaven.

Mackenzie selflessly took over bubble duty and the kids were even more excited to try and catch the bubbles and/or dance in them :)

This is Noah showing us his muscles :)

Lunch time!

I love seeing Mimi and Noah playing pretend in the back of this picture... they're getting so old!

A hug from Noah!

Group photo (minus Marie and Henry due to naptime calling!)

And on Easter Sunday Benjamin woke up to his very first Easter basket left by the Easter bunny.  ;) He was pretty excited... well, pretty excited to pull the eggs out of the basket.

We enjoyed a wonderful service with our whole church family in downtown Denver (we used a ballroom at the Sheraton so we all could fit together in one service!) and sang some wonderful songs (I've been singing How Great Thou Art at every naptime since!).  Benjamin had a great time in the nursery and even joined us for the last song.  He loves singing.  Someday he'll love it even more when he knows what he's singing about ;)

{we couldn't find any cute shirt/tie combos on our last minute shopping trip, so we went with the pastel look...}

Self-timer family picture!

After church a few friends came over to enjoy lunch in the beautiful weather.  I only partook in one Easter-iffic recipe - rice krispie treats with peanut m&ms to look like eggs.  Cheesy, I know!  But quite tasty.

We enjoyed a little grilling and conversation while soaking up the sun.  It was a wonderful afternoon!

And that evening Matt had to leave for NYC for a work trip.  We were sad to see him go, so I woke Benjamin up from his nap and forced a few family pics :)  He was sad to see dad go for a few days, but he's gotten pretty good at saying "Bye bye dada", so at least that's cute to see!

And after dad left, I snapped a few pics of Benjamin in the yard while I attempted to clean up a bit.  I can't believe how big this boy is getting - growing before my very eyes!

mom, please no more pictures...

Before bed, I put him in his Christmas PJs (seemed appropriate since we were celebrating Jesus all day anyway!) and he found his new favorite activity - pulling out the storage bin from under his crib, emptying it, and promptly sitting in it.  He later pulled a few books in with him and read to himself while enjoying the comfort of his new "chair" (with the book upside down).  Clever little fella.
