Father's Day Weekend

Poor little Benjamin has not been himself for the last few weeks.  He's been sick (with either one or two viruses...), and by sick I mean like actually sick.  We've washed more crib sheets than I care to even count.  I've been puked on more times than I want to count.  And windows have been opened regularly to air things out.  It hasn't been pretty folks.

Side fact: this was the outfit we put him to bed in on Saturday night since we knew we'd be up at about 2:30am yet again (and 12:30am and 3:30am and 5am...).  {Thanks D&E for the PJs, they really rang true the past few weeks!} ;)

But, we pressed on and tried to celebrate Father's Day in between tears and naps.  Maybe we're bad parents, but we just kept hoping that a little fun might cheer him up... sadly, it'd didn't quite work as planned. It seems that no matter what, he's just off lately (you'll see his sad face in many pictures that should be having big smiles!).  But, we did have some fun at different moments throughout the weekend thankfully.  And hopefully we were able to show dad how loved he is!!

On Saturday we took Benjamin to a Rockies game thanks to great tickets Matt got from work.  The seats were great - 1st base line!  Too bad we only spent about 25 minutes in them! :)  We did have fun exploring the stadium and finding the hidden gem of a kiddie play area.  I suspect we'll be there again in the future :) Baseball is just about Benjamin's favorite thing, so it's really fun getting to watch him take it all in (after reading many many books about it) and putting it all together.  (Aunt Suzie - his favorite book right now is Goodnight Baseball!)

On Sunday, Benjamin and I surprised dad with a present and mimosas in the backyard before jumping on the bikes and heading to a local little spot for breakfast (Latke Love!).  Biking around the neighborhood is one of our favorite family activities!

After breakfast, Benjamin seemed up for a little more adventure before nap time, so we headed to the zoo for a quick visit (P.S. a zoo membership is awesome because you never feel bad if you only stay for an hour!).  The zoo is one of Benjamin's favorite places, so we knew he was a sad boy when even the elephant show barely got a single smile out of him. :(

After nap time, we (well, I) surprised dad with his very own copper mugs (and moscow mules).  We enjoyed the nice refreshing drink before heading downtown to check out Denver Beer Company.  It's one of the few breweries left in town that Matt hasn't been to yet, so we enjoyed a quick beer (emphasizing quick thanks to our sad/sick little one), grabbed some dinner from the food truck, and then headed down to the river nearby to let Benjamin have a little fun in the water.  We at least got a few smiles there!

Overall, it was a great day to share with our favorite man.  Hopefully we were able to show him just how loved and special he is.  We're so thankful to have him in our lives!
