Date Night For The Win

It's hard to find time alone with your best friend/spouse when you have a child, let alone two.  So I think it's easy to forget just how much you love that person and laugh with them and want to talk to them about everything and nothing.  Sometimes, those 20 minute breaks from children/housechores just don't cut it (and let's face it, they're usually spent in front of the television)! So while Matt's folks were in town, we took advantage of some time out of the house and also got to enjoy the birthday present Matt got me back in December: tickets to see Brett Dennen solo at the Fox in Boulder! To do it up right, we decided to stay the night in Boulder and pretend like we were young and childless :)  And guess what, I LOVE my husband!! Turns out he's a really great date (and husband, and father, duh). He's smart, funny, thoughtful, and cute to boot! It was a great night away just spending time with each other. I'm a very lucky and blessed lady.

Our first stop was our favorite happy hour place in Boulder (Brasserie Ten Ten). The food is awesome and wine selection amazing, but even better, the happy hour prices are ridiculous! We filled up on small plates of a LOT of food (and of course some tasty bevvies).

Then we met our favorite Boulder residents (the Kozlowskis and McCreadys) out for drinks at Centro. That was fabulous, obviously :)

And then we headed to the Hill! The show was great and we got a great spot close-ish to the stage. We felt semi-young again!

Oh, and guess what, old-time Boulder people-  Illegal Pete's moved! I thought it had somehow closed (was thinking tax evasion or something, ala Tulagi's!), but alas it had just moved down the street. We stopped in for a late night snack only to discover it was comedy "hour"... and these poor guys were TERRIBLE. This guy even tried to sit with us during his set!

The next morning we walked the entire length of the Pearl Street Mall and ended up stopping at Foolish Craig's for brunch. The weather was AMAZING (this was February 9th!), and we enjoyed a little time to read and relax before heading home. Talk about a perfect morning with my husband!

Seriously, I almost always forget how beautiful Boulder is...

And when we got home, Benjamin wanted to show off some skills...

And here's one of the "babysitters" with the kiddos... clearly they missed us!
