Starting School!

In August, Benjamin started school. (You know, 3 year old ECE, so not that big of a deal) :)

But it was quite exciting for all of us! He's gone for three hours each morning at our neighborhood school, and we've just been over the moon about it. It's been fun for him to have something to do each day (I seriously was getting pretty boring for him!). He's made a bunch of new friends and we've connected with other families in the neighborhood, which is a huge bonus!!

(I'm beyond proud of this big kid. I'm so behind on blogging these days that I don't get to document just how quickly he's growing into a fabulous young man. He is the BEST big brother Avery could ask for, he can spell his name, he's kind to people, he loves to laugh and play with friends (or anyone), he's a total social butterfly, he is compassionate, he can count to forty and beyond, he can write quite a few letters and loves to sound out words all day long, he remembers EVERYTHING, he can tell you the name of all "nine" planets and most of their colors and other distinguishing facts (our book is a little old...), he hates eating meals, he loves to "practice" baseball, basketball, football, and soccer, he doesn't nap nearly enough for his mom's taste, he loves his family.... I mean, I am in love with this boy! In case you couldn't already tell. He had zero trouble adjusting to school (should I be concerned that he didn't care at all when I dropped him off??), and he loves to learn. We know how blessed we are with this kid!)

Here are some of the "good" pictures from his very first day!

This was our first time really in the school, registration day earlier in August (we had just met these two cute kiddos who are also in his class!):

Then we met the teacher a few days later for the "Meet and Greet". We got to see BWL's classroom and got so excited for what was in store.

Then the first day came!!! Benjamin was SO excited. So was Avery, though she didn't know why. :)

(One of the best parts about it all is that we get to walk to school with some of BWL's favorite buddies. What a treat.)

Here's his class on the first day!

We got to go inside for a bit while they got settled :)

Pick-up time!! He had a great first day :)

A few other days that week:

(My mom even got to walk with us to school one morning!)

Back to School Night was the next week and it was fun to see families come together at the school.

Hearing more about the school and meeting the staff:

It's been a great first month and we're looking forward to the rest of the year! So thankful for neighborhood schools and all they do to grow our young kids and foster community in the neighborhood!! :)
