Happy 5 months!

Dear Benjamin,

Little man, you don't even seem like a baby anymore (except for the whole lack of mobility thing) - I feel like every time I look at you you've gotten bigger and older!

Words can't really describe just how FUN you are these days... or how much energy you seem to have!  I am pretty sure you are going to be quite the handful in the coming years.  You seem to get a mischievous look in your eye that makes me feel like you'd be up to something if you could!  You love to play, you LOVE people (especially cute blondes still), and your demeanor and smiles get quite the compliments.  Everywhere we go people stop and say what a happy baby you must be, and I can't deny it... you are!  Even when things have gotten tough, and especially this month when your tummy troubles returned and you had to start on yet another formula, and then when you got croup and scared your momma to death with the scary wheezing and coughing, you smiled through it all (in addition to lots of crying through the night of course).

You are so much more interactive these days and seem to not be able to get enough of:

Your jumper: I am constantly amazed at how much you love this thing.  You have learned how to hit the buttons to get the music to play, spin the toys, turn the seat around to play with the toys in the back... I feel like your little brain must be moving at 90 mph when you're in it! Your feet barely touch the floor, so you don't get a ton of jumping done just yet, but soon enough!  (And don't think I'm not so proud when I hear the music start playing when I'm cooking or working on the computer...)

Standing:  this (along with jumping/dancing, which is an incredibly good arm workout) is your favorite thing to do these days.  You can't seem to get enough of someone letting you stand on their lap or jump up and down in front of them.  You usually smile from ear to ear when you're doing it!

Baseball: This was your best month for dad's favorite past time yet!  You went to your first Rockies and Twins games and have even cheered dad on at his softball games in Boulder.  You have about 10 baseball outfits (maybe more), so they've been put to good use!

Trying new things: you took your first bites of "real" food a few days ago!  The liquidy rice cereal doesn't seem all that different from formula, but it was fun nonetheless!  It's mostly just so crazy seeing you sit in the highchair, all of a sudden you seem so big!

i think this may have been your dad's bib!

Here's where you were still trying to figure out what was going on:

You also love dancing (while mom sings) to Raffi (especially Baby Beluga of course), putting anything and everything in your mouth, and staring at Lincoln (he's such a weirdo!).  You've been known to roll once or twice, but you're still a little confused as to what to do with your arms when you're almost flipped... so tough!  Tummy time isn't quite as bad anymore, but you still start whining after about two minutes of it.  But I wouldn't be surprised if you skipped crawling all together and went straight to walking the way your little legs are so anxious to be on the move!  With your tummy troubles, traveling, and croup, you haven't had the most consistent sleep (I know dad hope this fixes itself quickly!), but every night seems to be getting a little better lately.  These days you still go by Pooh Bear most of the time, though Love Bug, Bubba, and Buddy are often heard around the house too.  I'm pretty sure none of your friends will call you any of these names when you're older :)

We are SO enjoying being your parents little man.  Every day seems to find something new, and while you keep me on my toes, it sure is fun!

Love,
Mom & Dad
