Dear Benjamin,
Yesterday, you turned nine months old! You are a mover and shaker (literally), and growing so quickly before our eyes.
I had a very difficult time getting a "birthday" picture this go round... you don't want to sit still much at all these days, and here is a little photographic evidence of what your dad and I dealt with while trying to get one measly picture of you with the baseball glove!
I made your dad go to the park with us to get a few pics of my boys together. There are days when you look just like him, and days when you look just like me. But no matter the day, we think you are beautiful. (And you really love your daddy!)
And just a few more cute pics I caught in the past week:
We went for your 9 month checkup today, and the doctor said you're as perfect as can be (his words, I promise!). With the exception of your milk allergy (which looks to be getting much better, we can start trying soy formula out in about six weeks!!), he said you get top stars for all of your development. Way to go, buddy! He also complimented you on being such a social and happy boy, something we're very grateful for :) It was so crazy to see you so big in the same room we've taken you to since you were born... you're not such a littly baby anymore!
Stats
Weight: 18lbs 7oz (29%)
Length: 28 1/4" (47%)
Head Circ: 17 7/8" (60%)
Teeth count: 4 (two top, two bottom) :-)
Your dad asked me later if the doctor rated you on the wildness scale. Apparently he thinks you'd be off the charts! ;)
These days you are really loving your toys and especially loving the music table that miss mackenzie gave us. You love to dig through the laundry basket full of toys in the living room (I'm not sure how we acquired so many toys... your toy bin in your nursery is full too!) and pull out any number of things to play with and/or chew on. I'm thankful that you're pretty good at keeping yourself busy most days! And when you're not, I'm chasing you around the house or finding you in very weird places. You definitely keep me on my toes.
You still love to stand up more than anything. I mean, seriously, more than anything. If you're in a bad mood, or if you cry during a walk, or if you're sick of your toys, all you want to do is pull yourself up on something (a couch, a leg, a table, a music stand, a dog... it doesn't matter). You've gotten so strong, you hardly ever fall over. And you even walk along the couch while holding on! Slow dooooown!
You LOVE to get into just about anything... you pull books off of shelves (this happens multiple times a day), you dig through any baskets you can find pulling every item you can carry out, and you generally just root around the house for things to get your little hands on!
Whenever you're outside, you've taken to squinting and squishing your face up, just like your grampa and I do :)
You've learned how to use a straw, so I often find your little cup laying in random places around the house. This, somehow, makes me feel even more like a mom than I already do. Because, you know, moms are always finding cups and things laying around the house.
We feel like such lucky and blessed parents to have you in our lives... you are so full of energy and seem to learn or try something new every day. You also LOVE to eat. In addition to standing making you happy, eating makes you overjoyed. We keep a stash of puffs and rice cakes on hand everywhere we go because no matter what, you'll calm down and get happy for food. Not sure that that's a good habit to develop, but for now, we let it slide ;) You also love to make funny noises with your nose, blow on us with your tongue sticking out, crawl at warp speed throughout the house, and talk gibberish most of the day. And we are so thankful that you've been sleeping for 11-12 hours each night for the past couple months (with the exception of last weekend when you decided to hate sleeping and want us up with you all night... twice!). You're a wonderful son little man, even though you're a wild, energetic handful! :-)
We love you wild boy!
Love,
Mom & Dad
He is toooooo ccuuute!!!!!
